Walter Keith Powell, 66, of Clarksburg, MO passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was born on August 2, 1945 in California, MO the son of Clay and Lucy (Volkart) Powell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on December 14, 1963 to Mabel Louise Uptergrove, who preceded him in death on February 13, 2009. He married Mary Jo Hanna on October 19, 2000, who survives of the home. He worked as a flatbed builder for Benny Hainen, and was owner of Backpack Truckbeds and Trailers. He is survived by 1 daughter, Lisa Griggs and husband Jeff; stepdaughters Betty Leuthauser and husband Johnny, Sherry Cotten, and Melissa Williams and husband Robert; stepsons Larry J. Gish and wife Christina and Billy Jack Purnell and wife Natasha; 1 sister, Judy Koechner and husband John; grandchildren Roxanne and Jordan; 18 step-grandchildren; great-grandson Roman; and 16 step-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Cemetery near Kaiser, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Jones. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO.
